The Bauhaus was an art school in that started in Germany after ww1 and close during ww2. Also, it was not just an art school it was an art movement that helped shape our world. The founder of the school is credited for the creation of modern-day architecture. He used a lot of steals, concrete and glass in his buildings which seams normal for us now but back in his day he was the 1st person to do this was his design. the was that he set up the school and how to teach his student was also different form other art schools. Along with just the arts the Bauhaus also offered practical classes too all new students took an introductory class 1st the was more like a general education that taught a little bit of everything before they could decide what they wanted to specialize in too. At least for men. Women only had one choice it was to be in the weaving class. Marianne Brandt can around and started to change all that. She was the 1st metal working student at Bauhaus. She eventually became the teacher. This was still the era of lady’s work could not be anything “too manly” and metal working was not considering a “lady’s job”. One of the may themes the Bauhaus used was the idea of expressionism. Expressionism is where the artist wants to express emotions and not just a picture of the real world. From the video I remember that they said that all squares are red, and all triangles are yellow, and all circles are blue. The Bauhaus movement was cut short by Nazi gaining power in Germany. They made the Bauhaus school move twice which was gave them a chance to rebuild better buildings. Eventually they shut them down. This was good for the spread of design ideas the school was teacher with all the student fleeing to seek refuge This caused them to spread out into the world and influence it with their style. Now today you can see their style in modern day. Because they spread out so much once the school closed the ideals from the school really started showing up everywhere.
