Le Mars

Theme - Ice Cream Capital

Le Mars is recognized as “The Ice Cream Capital of the World®” because more ice cream is made here by a single company (Wells Enterprises, Inc., makers of Blue Bunny® ice cream) than in any other city on earth. With nearly 12 miles of recreational trails, a 27-hole golf course, multiple parks, campgrounds, a vibrant downtown retail district, and so much more…the fact that we also serve our famous ice cream at the award-winning Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor is the cherry on top! This northwest Iowa community of nearly 10,000 residents will boast that Le Mars, Iowa, is the sweetest place to live, work, and raise a family!

We hope you can feel the welcoming energy as you pedal through our small town, taking in the beauty of all the recent and ongoing improvements with help from the John Criss Trust.  Known for being the home to the World’s Largest Popcorn Ball, Sac City also has numerous historical sites and other amenities for you to enjoy. From our Aquatic Center to our award-winning Cattail Cove, we hope you have a ball here in our little piece of paradise.

The family-owned stores found throughout Sac City treat their patrons as if they have known them for years. No one is a stranger in Sac City, and you won’t be either.

Day three

Sac City to Fort Dodge Theme - Roll 'in Rivers

Fort Dodge is a friendly town with wonderful neighborhoods, first-class educational opportunities, state-of-the-art health services, many service clubs and organizations, and an array of arts and culture — as well as boundless activities through recreation, local attractions, and entertainment venues. We have made many improvements to our community since RAGBRAI was here in 2015. Together we have made great strides within our infrastructure, retail, recreational, and educational opportunities that have helped our community thrive. It is my hope that you will find Fort Dodge a great stop on your RAGBRAI journey.

Again, I welcome you to our great community. Enjoy your stay here and discover why Fort Dodge is a healthy, vibrant community in which to live, work, and play.

Day Four

Fort Dodge to Iowa Falls Theme - Nautical by Nature

One of the shortest rides will be on Tuesday so plan to ride the 54.9 miles into town early and spend the day exploring our Scenic City. Plenty of things to see and do downtown and along the river. You can plan to tube in the river, shop in our downtown stores, see some unique sites, and take in all the nautical small town fun we have in store for you!

The little river town in the middle of it all! Iowa Falls has the beautiful bluffs and rolling hills of northeast Iowa but sits in the central part of the state, surrounded by the best farmland in the country, livestock producers that feed the world and boast a vibrant downtown business community. The Iowa River is at the center of everything we do, we’re Nautical by Nature, but we know how to hit the trails, too!

Day Seven

Anamosa to Dewitt

Theme - Can You HanDewitt

We may be a small town, but we like to throw big events and the last night of RAGBRAI will be no exception. DeWitt, known as the “Crossroads to Opportunity,” is located at the intersection of four-lane Highways 30 and 61 and is a part of the historic Lincoln Highway. Trust us, this is one intersection at which you’ll want to stop.

You will feel right at home in this welcoming community and are invited to take in the beauty, recreation, culture, and community pride found in DeWitt. Experience everything from golfmountain bikingrunning, disc golf, spending time at the dog park or taking a dip at the Aquatic Center. Wander through our exceptional shops and grab a bite at our many restaurants throughout the community. History buffs will discover museumshistorical landmarks and a history that spans back to 1836. And, this doesn’t even include all we’re planning to celebrate the last night of RAGBRAI 2021! We hope you can handle all we have to offer!
